Calgary has sold five parcels of land below cost to enhance affordable housing supply, enabling the construction of nearly 400 new homes. Selected providers include Onward Homes, Siksika Off-Reserve Affordable Housing, Aboriginal Friendship Centre of Calgary, and Liberty Housing Organization. The city prioritizes Indigenous organizations and offers up to four years for construction. This initiative aims to reduce land costs for non-profits, allowing them to allocate savings to affordable housing programs. Additional funding of up to $75,000 per door is also available.
